The Role of Habits in Your Life

Amongst the many habits that we should maintain is the habit of happiness. Some people are so used to not being happy in the  past that  whenever a happy incident happens, he will invariably search for reasons not to be happy. Happiness is something that comes from your inside. You should not allow outside factors to make you happy or unhappy.

As we go through life, things do happen to us, to our family or to our environments. But nothing that happens are important other than the importance we attach to it. We are actually the center of our own universe. Nothing is happening out there to affect our happiness if we don't let it. This is a colossal information. So remember this the next time a little irritation occurs to you.

Always look at life as a big picture. It is easy sometimes to be concerned over a little tree and forget about the whole forest. It might help if we can shift our focus away from ourselves to others. Do good things to others without expecting any return. We are so used to doing things expecting a reward or a praise. Instead why not try doing them just for the pleasure. You will get a different feeling altogether.

Many people wait for that special time to be happy. They wait until they get promoted or until they get married or until their children go to college. Some wait until they become millionaires, which can be a really long wait. In reality you don't have to wait. You can practice the habit of happiness right now. It's your birthright to be happy. Habit of happiness, like success, is a journey, not a destination.
